Manuscript Submission Information

The fast-growing study focuses on Artificial Intelligence (AI) reflects the various applications of related methods and technologies in manufacturing (Bu et al., 2021), city planning (Mortaheb & Jankowski, 2022), farm management (Chiu et al., 2022), production control system (Colangelo et al., 2022) and other fields. AI shows the great advantage of smart decision-making, e.g. AI algorithmic approach to ethical decision-making in human resource management processes (Rodgers et al., 2022), AI-based online triage model for hospitals (Cao et al., 2021), development of smart devices decision support system for visual inspection in production (Mende et al., 2022), digital marketing strategy design (Keegan, 2022; Volkmar, 2022), and it has changed the way of decision-making, we should recognize the importance of AI.

In this special issue of the Journal of Systems Science and Information (JSSI), we will examine papers that expand our understanding of the theoretical frameworks, and help scholars and managers understand how AI can affect the smart decision-making process. We are interested in both qualitative and quantitative inquiries that explore topics in this domain. We encourage collaborative work between scholars and managers/companies, especially the application of AI methods and technologies in practice. We also focus on the role of innovation networks, global value chains, ecosystems of innovation, technology transfer and knowledge transmission in particular as they relate to AI and the smart decision-making process. We believe that the empirical study of AI in decision-making settings, given the nascent nature of this research in system science, provides ideal opportunities for multidisciplinary research.

Topics of interest for this special issue include (but are not limited to) are listed below:

  • AI technology development and its application in smart decision-making
  • AI technology, smart devices, and social value creation
  • The challenges of AI in the digital era (e.g., privacy concerns, bottleneck of technology, business ethics, etc.)
  • AI and system science innovation
  • AI and smart management (e.g., smart city planning, smart hotel management system, smart traffic management, smart medical management system, etc.)
  • AI and value creation in innovation ecosystems

Manuscripts should be submitted online at https://www.syssci.ac.cn. Please specify the submission to “AI and Smart Decision-Making: Theory, Modelling and Applications” when uploading your paper. Manuscripts can be submitted until the deadline. Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere. All submissions that pass pre-check are peer-reviewed. All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through the standard peer-review process. A guide for authors and other relevant information for submission of manuscripts is available on the author guidelines page. Submitted papers should be well formatted and use good English.

For any further information, please contact the guest editor, Prof. Zongshui Wang (wangzongshui8@163.com) or the Journal’s office (sysengi@amss.ac.cn).
